Skin Rejuvenation

At the Institute of Dermatology and Oculoplastic Surgery, we are committed to helping our patients achieve a more youthful and radiant complexion with our skin rejuvenation treatments.
Our wide array of options includes various chemical peels, fractionated lasers, and CO2 lasers. Non-surgical skin rejuvenation allows our patients to feel in control of their bodies, taking a proactive stance against signs of aging.

What Is Professional Skin Rejuvenation?

Skin rejuvenation covers almost any treatment or procedure to improve the health, appearance, and quality of your skin. Store-bought and DIY options exist in excess, though they can range from less effective to downright problematic. The issue is that everyone’s skin is unique, and trying to blindly improve one’s skin can prove a quagmire of a challenge. Professional skin rejuvenation cuts out the confusion and ensures a high quality of service that produces substantial results. We adapt and recommend treatments based on your individual situation, never settling for a one-size-fits-all approach.

What Options Are There for Skin Rejuvenation?

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are an effective way to improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and acne scars. We offer various types of chemical peels, including glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peels. Each of these peels is tailored to the patient’s unique skin type and concerns, and we offer both light and deep peels depending on the severity of the skin condition.

Treatment Sessions: From 30 to 90 minutes, depending on complexity and intensity. We may break up a treatment session into several intervals for each area to be treated. Most patients will need a regiment of 3 to 6 treatments spread out over a couple of months.

Recovery & Downtime: Light chemical peels have virtually no downtime or recovery period. However, more intensive ones can result in more notable swelling and redness. While these do not demand downtime, many patients prefer to stay at home until these effects resolve.

Results: Patients can expect to see results within about 2 weeks on average. However, results depend on intensity of treatment, number of sessions, and unique skin qualities. Expect long-lasting results, but continue to care well for your skin.

Fractionated Lasers

Our fractionated laser treatment uses laser energy to penetrate the skin in a grid-like pattern, stimulating the growth of new collagen and elastin. This results in smoother, tighter skin with fewer fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. Fractionated laser treatment can also be effective in reducing the appearance of scars, including acne scars.

Treatment Sessions: From 15 to 90 minutes, depending on treatment plan. Most patients will need 2 to 4 treatments to complete a full regimen and see the results they want. While the laser can cause minor discomfort, most patients report easily tolerating the sensation.

Recovery & Downtime: An average of 1 week of swelling and redness is standard for most treatments. However, more intensive treatments may take longer to resolve.

Results: Some improvements can be seen once the redness resolves. However, final results are most evident within about 3 months of your final treatment session. Results can last for years.

CO2 Lasers

A CO2 laser is a more intense laser treatment that can address deeper wrinkles, sun damage, and more severe skin conditions. This treatment involves removing the top layer of skin with the laser, stimulating collagen production and revealing healthier, smoother skin.

Treatment Details

Treatment Sessions: Patients may need between 2 and 5 treatments, with most reaching their goals after 3 treatments. Patients report only moderate discomfort during treatment sessions, but they are still well tolerated. We may break the treatment up into several intervals for increased comfort.

Recovery & Downtime: CO2 laser treatment tends to be more intensive, so some redness and swelling may take up to 2 weeks to resolve. Discomfort should be mild, akin to a sunburn on the treated areas. You can continue with your routine during this time, but avoid sunlight exposure and skin irritants.

Results: Some improvements can be seen within 1 week for many patients, but the real benefits come as your body responds to treatment. Within about 3 months, most patients see their full results, which can last for years. However, we advise taking care to avoid lifestyle factors that can age the skin. Examples include smoking, excess alcohol, and prolonged sun exposure.
