Ilya Lim, M.D., FAAD

Dr. Ilya Lim, M.D., FAAD, is a highly skilled board-certified dermatologist and board-certified dermatologic micrographic surgeon at the Institute of Dermatology & Oculoplastic Surgery in Sarasota, Florida. With a patient-focused approach to care, Dr. Lim is committed to helping patients achieve healthy, beautiful skin.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Lim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with a concentration in biomedicine from New York University Tandon School of Engineering in 2005. He went on to complete his medical degree at the New York University School of Medicine in 2010.
Dr. Lim then completed an internship in internal medicine at the New York University Langone Medical Center in 2011, followed by a residency in dermatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center from 2011 to 2014. He became board certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 2014, and Board certified in Mohs Micrographic Surgery.
Dr. Lim brings a wealth of experience to his practice, having served as faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine Department of Dermatology from 2014 to 2017, and as an assistant professor at the Yale School of Medicine Department of Dermatology for 4 years prior to starting the Institute of Dermatology and Oculoplastic Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, American Society for Mohs Surgery, as well as the International Peeling Society (IPS).
Dr. Lim has co-authored several book chapters and articles in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD) and the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV). He has a particular interest in skin cancer (including surgical procedures), precancer, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis/eczema, acne, rosacea, melasma, vitiligo, warts, and complex medical dermatology. Dr. Lim also has expertise in cosmetic dermatology, including Botox injections, chemical peels, and laser procedures.
Outside of work, Dr. Lim enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis, practicing martial arts, reading, and traveling. He is fluent in English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hebrew.
