Neurotoxin Wrinkle Removal FAQs
Neuromodulators work by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause these wrinkles, resulting in a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. They have been used for many years and have an excellent safety record. Each formula we use is FDA-cleared for use and sourced from reliable providers.
Even patients with a fear of needles will often agree that having an injectable treatment is not painful. We will use a local numbing cream to prevent any pain in the treatment areas. At most, patients may report a mild pinching sensation. The needles are very fine and our providers highly skilled—a combination that lends itself to safe, comfortable, and fast treatment.
We work with patients in a comprehensive consultation process to promote a highly safe experience. While some patients may have mild side effects, most patients will experience none. Still, some swelling and redness are normal parts of the treatment, but they fade within a few hours to a day. There is no real downtime required, but we do recommend a few tips after treatment:
- Avoid putting pressure on the injection site for at least 12 hours
- Minimize sun exposure
- Wait up to 24 hours before applying makeup (depends on your treatment)
- Avoid irritating the treatment sites with harsh skin products (e.g., salicylic acid)
Neurotoxin treatments can provide impressive results, but it can take some time to see your full, maximum results. The injection starts to show noticeable results within about 3 days for most people. Within a week, you should see further improvements. Since neurotoxin works by preventing muscles from forming wrinkles, deeper wrinkles may take longer to fade.
Your injection should continue to provide benefits for about 3 to 4 months, after which a touch-up treatment can prolong your results. Depending on the formula you chose and other factors, results may last up to 6 months for some patients.
